Are you a remote worker or nearly retired and dreaming of exploring the world at a slower pace? Writer, Explorer or Need Retreat?

Slow travel allows you to immerse yourself in new cultures, work from beautiful locations, and experience life like a local. But getting started can be overwhelming. That’s where personal coaching comes in.

Our "Fast Start to Slow Travel" coaching program is designed specifically for people like you those who want to make the most of their ability to work remotely, are approaching retirement, or simply curious, and looking for a new adventure.

In this blog, we’ll walk you through our four-session coaching pathway that will transform your travel dreams into a reality.

Session 1: Laying the Foundation for Your Journey

Objective: Develop a clear vision of your slow travel experience, focusing on time, money, and personal goals.

Step 1: Introduction and Expectations

We start by introducing the coaching process and outlining the expected results. This session is all about getting to know you—your aspirations, dreams, and what you hope to achieve through slow travel.

Step 2: Crafting Your Experience

You’ll describe the type of experience you desire:

  • What are your travel goals?

  • What kind of environments excite you?

  • Do you prefer city life, rural retreats, or something in between?

Step 3: Timing is Everything

Next, we’ll discuss:

  • When to go: What’s the best time of year for your travel? Are there specific events you want to experience?

  • How long to stay: We’ll help you decide on the duration of your trips based on your work schedule or retirement plans.

Step 4: Financial Planning

  • Resources available: How much can you allocate to travel? What financial support do you have?

  • Home base decisions: Should you rent out your home while traveling, or keep it as a retreat?

Homework for Session 1:

  • Write your travel plan: Put your ideas and decisions into writing.

  • Build your profile: Write a travel profile that highlights your personality, preferences, and experience. Find three pictures that represent your travel goals.

  • Ask for references: Reach out to three people who can vouch for your character and readiness for this journey.

Expected Results:

By the end of Session 1, you’ll have a clear vision of your slow travel goals, a rough timeline, and a financial plan that aligns with your lifestyle.

Session 2: Building Your Travel Pathway

Objective: Create a solid foundation for your slow travel journey by setting up your online presence, choosing the right platform, and preparing for your first trip.

Step 1: Choosing the Right Platform

We’ll explore different platforms that connect travelers with opportunities such as house-sitting, work exchanges, or freelance gigs abroad. You’ll choose one that fits your goals.

Step 2: Building Your Profile

With guidance, you’ll:

  • Complete your profile: Fill in all the details to make your profile stand out.

  • Background check: We’ll guide you through obtaining a background check, which is often required for trust-based platforms.

Step 3: Navigating Offers and Practicing Communication

You’ll learn how to:

  • Evaluate offers: Look through several listings and discuss the pros and cons of each.

  • Practice communication: Engage in a mock call with a prospective host to build your confidence.

Step 4: Financial Preparation

  • Transportation costs

  • Food and entertainment

  • Ongoing expenses at home

Homework for Session 2:

Apply for your first opportunity: Use your newly completed profile to apply for a position that aligns with your travel goals.

Expected Results:

By the end of Session 2, you’ll have a complete, compelling online profile and a solid plan for your first slow travel adventure, including a budget and applied opportunity.

Session 3: Expanding and Planning for the Future

Objective: Refine your travel strategy by exploring additional platforms, evaluating more opportunities, and planning your next steps.

Step 1: Review and Reflect

We’ll review your progress, celebrate your successes, and identify any areas that need adjustment.

Step 2: Broadening Your Horizons

Explore at least three other platforms:

  • Register: Sign up for 1-2 additional platforms to broaden your opportunities.

  • Evaluate new listings: Together, we’ll assess more listings and identify potential matches.

Step 3: Future Planning

We’ll make a plan for your next travel:

  • Spending plan: Create a budget for your next destination.

  • Dates: Choose your travel dates based on your availability and preferred timing.

Step 4: Sharing Your Story

Finally, you’ll record a testimonial about your experience so far. This helps you reflect on your journey and share your excitement with others.

Expected Results:

By the end of Session 3, you’ll be well-prepared for your upcoming trips, with a broader range of options, a clear plan, and the confidence to continue your slow travel journey.
